About us

Grown in the highlands.
Crafted with care.

Mutangana Tea Group operates two tea factories — Karongi and Muganza — growing and processing some of Rwanda's finest tea. From plantation to cup, we bring you pure, single-origin tea while supporting the communities that make it possible.

Our name

Mutangana

“To love unconditionally” — in Kinyarwanda.

It's our family name, and our founding promise. Rwanda is a young country with a lot of power, motivation and enthusiasm — so is the family Mutangana. Every leaf we grow, process and pour carries that same unconditional care, from the first pluck on the hillside to the cup in your hands.

Where it begins

Karongi Fields

Karongi Tea Factory sits in Karongi District, Western Province, on the shores of Lake Kivu. Its 465 hectares of nucleus tea farms stretch across four sectors — each with its own microclimate and character.

What we stand for

Origin

Every leaf is grown and processed at our own Karongi and Muganza estates, so quality is in our hands from the first pluck.

Craft

Traditional methods and careful processing preserve the natural character of each harvest.

Community

Our factories are built on the people and land around them — we grow together with the communities we work in.

Our blends

Three teas, one heritage.

Each brand is crafted to the same uncompromising standard, in innovative packaging built for retail, food service and every cup in between.

Breakfast Blend
Black tea

Bold and full-bodied, grown on our Karongi estates — robust enough for milk, bright enough on its own.

Arabica
Black tea & cardamom

Our black tea lifted with whole cardamom pods, infusing every cup with a warm, fragrant sweetness.

African Tea
Black tea & spices

Cinnamon, ginger, cardamom, cloves and black pepper blended into black tea — a spiced cup rooted in East African tradition.

Available loose leaf in 200g tins and doypacks, or as individually wrapped 2g tea bags.
